About Us

First Beats is an Australian owned company founded in 2003 from the personal experience of my wife and myself. Having used a Fetal Doppler for much needed reassurance, we thought other expectant parents might appreciate the chance to use one as well.

You see, after many unsuccessful IVF attempts and a miscarriage, Julie and I were thrilled to discover that we were expecting our first child. Not surprisingly, we were also very nervous. The months of uncertainty till the birth were something neither of us looked forward to.

It was then a friend suggested we get a Fetal Heart Doppler like the ones doctors and midwives use. Overnight, Julie's pregnancy was transformed. No longer a trauma but instead a time to be enjoyed. Whenever our old fears and uncertainties began to surface, we simply reached for the Doppler and listened to the reassuring sound of our baby's heartbeat and movement. And best of all, it mean't that we both felt much more involved in the pregnancy.

After the birth of our baby, Julie and I, together with our friend and ultrasound specialist Eric, decided we wanted others to also enjoy the sense of calm and enjoyment that having a Doppler brought us.
